"It's the most wonderful time of the year…"  Ah, the Christmas season is racing toward us once again.  Doesn't it seem like it was just yesterday you were working in your summer garden, taking a summer vacation or swimming at the lake?  The stores are in a full assault of our senses - "buy now, buy here, you have to get this, you really need that" are the all-too familiar battle cries heard on the radio, t.v. and in the newspaper.  As your pastor, I pray you somehow take time and make time to prepare your heart for Christmas.  The season of Advent has just begun and as I remind the congregation each year, it's the time of calming, reflecting and preparing our hearts for the ultimate gift of the Christ-child.  I read a poem recently that I want to share with you this season, and I hope you accept it as my gift to last all year through.  It's titled:  "Christmas Wish" by Kay Hoffman.

What do I wish for you this Christmas?
Not something you'll find in a store,
But gifts that will live in your heart
When the holly's gone from your door.
I wish you the gift of true friendship,
As warm as holiday cheer,
The kind that will bring your heart joy
Each day of the coming year.
I wish you the gift of good health,
Good fortune in all that you do.
I wish you a prayer time each day,
Your spirit to ever renew.
What do I wish for you this Christmas?
More precious than this set apart -
I wish you the gift of the Christ Child,
Living each day in your heart.

"For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."  Isaiah 9:6-7.

May God touch each of your hearts and lives in a special way this Christmas season.  And never forget what an honor this pastor considers it to serve you!
